The Universities of Venda, Limpopo, Zululand and South Africa converged at offices of the NIHSS on the 3 February 2017 to hold a Scientific Committee and plan the upcoming colloquium on Liberation Struggle Histories. Representatives from the University of Pretoria were also invited to be part of this important meeting.
The Humanities Hubs organising committee received papers from interested researchers and students to participate in this multi-disciplinary colloquium.
The colloquium will focus on the following, but is not limited to the below sub-themes:
- “ Theorising Revolutions, Freedoms and History
- Biographies: Echoes of the Past
- Women and the Liberation Struggles
- Youth and Resistance in post-colonial states
NIHSS Humanities Hubs Programme Director, Dr Sibonginkosi Mazibuko says “it’s all systems go, and they are ready to hold the colloquium. Themed: Colloquium on Liberation Struggle History, Memory and Contestation, the event will be hosted at Khoroni Hotel in Thohoyandou from 15 - 17 March.”
