The researcher reviews current research on multilingualism and teaching and proposes strategies for overcoming the English prescriptivism, and monolingual mind-set in education.

Local web news as tools for framing food security in Eastern Cape: Content Analysis of for selected Eastern Cape local web newspapers

This study evaluates how the Eastern Cape local web newspapers frame food security in the Eastern Cape Province. A qualitative content analysis by means of textual analysis was used to evaluate the selected local web newspaper’s content on food security related stories within the period of July-December 2017. The sample was drawn from four Eastern Cape local web newspapers- Daily Dispatch Live, Herald Live, Go and Express and The Talk of the Town.

Mitigating the effects of family violence on children: Assessing the effectiveness of social work interventions at Buffalo city municipality, Eastern Cape

Family violence is one of the major challenges that South African social welfare is faced with, regardless of the programmes and other initiatives to curb and eradicate it. This violence does not only affect the victim but all members of the family system and the community at large. This study aims at investigating the effectiveness of social work interventions in mitigating the effects of family violence on children in the Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality in Eastern Cape.
